Centered on Teen Read Week, the school library designed The “Seek the Unknown” Door Decorating Contest. Classes had the opportunity to decorate their door to the “Seek the Unknown” theme. There was a good number of classes that took part in this competition.

The classes that participated were “Ms. Moody’s Drama (all three blocks), Mrs. Brennen’s Third Block IBA class, Mrs. Rundlett’s First Block Honors English class, Mr. Lipps’ students with help from Mrs. South in the PAES Lab., Mrs. Speaks’ classes and Mrs. Goodwin’s Second Block Newspaper Production class.” Mrs. Horton, School Librarian.

The top 5 classes receive refreshments from the library and a choice of a game day or a movie day. The winners are decided by a staff committee. The winners were Mrs. Goodwin’s Newspaper Staff, Mrs. Rundlett’s First Block Class, Mrs. Speaks First, Second, and Third Blocks, Mrs. Brennen’s Third Block and Ms. Moody’s Third Block. Mr. Lipps’ students received a Special Bulldog Award for decorated their door and providing the students the opportunity to learn sequence patterns, utilize fine motor skills and use leisure time constructively.

The library will continue to sponsor activities throughout the year to promote reading. On November 11th through November 26th, there will be activities promoting the theme “Thankful for the Freedom to Read”. In December the library will sponsor the Literary Luncheon for students who meet criteria in their English classes, this will also be repeated in May. Then in February the library has activities planned and also in April, when they will celebrate School Library Month.
